Ever wonder how to pick a perfect avocado?

I learned this trick from my brother and it's particularly useful when selecting from avos that are out of season or imported. All you do is pick away the scabby end of the stem from the top of the fruit (is it a fruit?) and have a look at the flesh inside. If it's an even, pale green colour you're on to a winner... if it's speckled with black toss it back.
